Sligo Death Notices

The death has occurred of Philomena (Phyllis) O'DONOVAN (née Candon)
Santry, Dublin / Ballinafad, Sligo

O’Donovan (née, Candon) Philomena (Phyllis) (Oldtown Avenue, Santry and formerly of Ballinafad, Co. Sligo) September 22nd 2017, peacefully, passed away in the care of the dedicated staff at St. Francis Hospice, Raheny, after a courageous fight. Re-united with her predeceased baby granddaughter Sofia Hope and her late brother John. Beloved wife of Gerry and much loved and devoted mother to Bernice, Gerard, Fiona, Geraldine, Mairead and Karol. Survived by her only sister Mary. Much loved grand-mother to Séan, Diarmuid, Ailish, Cormac, Rhys and Noah, also sadly missed by her Sons-in-law John and David, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours, a wide circle of friends and her beloved dog Braddock.


May She Rest In Peace.


Reposing at her home on Sunday 24th September 2017 from 2pm. Removal on Monday morning 25th September 2017 to the Church of Our Lady of Victories, Ballymun Road, arriving at 11.20am for Mass at 11.30am. Funeral afterwards to Glasnevin Cemetery. Family flowers only please, Donations if desired to St. Francis Hospice, Raheny.

The death has occurred of JOHN BARBER
Cullaghmore, Carney, Sligo / Belturbet, Cavan

John Barber, Cullaghmore, Carney, Co. Sligo and Belturbet, Co. Cavan. 21st September 2017 (Suddenly) Dearly loved son of Mavis and Cecil and beloved partner of Lisa. Sadly missed by his loving parents, partner, brothers Adrian and Ian and their partners Cassandra and Sharon, his beloved nephew Jack and niece Kelsey, his aunts, uncles, cousins and a wide circle of friends.


Remains reposing at the home of his parents Mavis and Cecil, Cullaghmore, Carney, Co. Sligo on Saturday from 3pm to 9pm and on Sunday from 3pm to 9pm. Liturgy of prayers and Burial in Drumcliff Cemetery on Monday morning at 11.30am.
