The government is to protest to the authorities in Mauritius after a local newspaper at the weekend published pictures of Michaela McAreavey after she was killed.
The Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs Eamon Gilmore is to discuss the matter with Ireland's ambassador to Mauritius today.
The Mauritius Sunday Times newspaper published the crime scene photographs.
Among the images was a front page photograph of Michaela McAreavey after she had been strangled while on honeymoon with her new husband John McAreavey.
The publication has been condemned by her relatives here and by the Taoiseach, Enda Kenny.
Ireland's ambassador to Mauritius Brendan McMahon is due to meet the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs in Dublin this morning.
Mr Gilmore wants to discuss how to bring the Government's concerns to the Mauritian authorities at the highest level.
He described the development as deeply distressing for the families of Michaela and John.
