Sligo Fun Company receives top nominations

Sligo Fun Company's recent production of "All Shook Up" received four of the top nominations at the AIMS (Association of Irish Musical Societies) Awards including Best Overall Show. On June 16th at the AIMS Awards Weekend Mary MacDonagh received the overall award for Best Choreography.

This is Sligo Fun Company's first time to be part of AIMS and it was a huge achievement to be nominated four times and to win the top best choreography award.

Sligo Fun Company are celebrating 30 years in Sligo and their next show will be an Irish Premier of Andrew Lloyd Webber's "CATS". One of the longest running shows in musical theatre history this is a must see production which starts on Friday 31st of August and runst until Thursday 6th of September.

Based on “Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats” by T. S. Eliot, the show tells the story of a tribe of cats called the Jellicles and the night they make what is known as "the Jellicle choice" and decide which cat will ascend to the Heavyside Layer and come back to a new life. “Cats” is one of the longest running shows in musical theatre history. It features many well known songs such as ‘Jellicle Cats’, ‘Mr. Mistoffelees’, and the much loved classic ‘Memory’.

In 2011 an all-youth group wa set up under the umbrella of the Sligo Fun Company called "Musical Magic Youth". All members in this group are under 21 and have received, and continue to receive, training in various disciplines in the theatre, all completely free of charge to everyone involved in the productions.

Andrew Lloyd Webber's "CATS" will be a must see production for theatre audiences who have been supporting The Sligo Fun Company for the past 30 years.
