Sligo's STAR FACTORY Continued Success

2012 marks the 50th anniversary of the greatest musical ever written West Side Story, and now Sligos hottest theatre group The Star Factory are preparing to bring the Broadway magic to the Hawkswell Theatre from 16th – 25th August 2012.

Returning from their smash hit acclaimed debut show Hairspray last summer, The Star Factory are bigger and better than ever with a cast of over 50 super talented teenagers, an incredible production team and a 12 piece professional orchestra with a show to completely blow Sligo away.

In the beginning of 2011, The Star Factory Theatre Company began with a brand new”street to stage” ethos – all teenagers, from all walks of life, regardless of experience were welcome to work with some of the countries top production teams and orchestras to stage the must-see event of each summer – and all free of charge to the kids involved.

All kids deserve a chance, so a group of volunteers fundraise all year around to stage the project and final productions, which cost up to €50,000, without receiving any funding. Since their debut, Sligo has been buzzing about the group, showing their support for their “street to stage” ethos in their thousands.

The publicity whirlwind for West Side Story begins with a stunning night time photo shoot of the cast by Sligeach Films on the Glasshouse Hotel Rooftop. The Star Factory continues their aim to make dreams come true and take musical theatre in Sligo to another level with this years smash hit!

Producer Karen Gordon says “We continue to be stunned by the level of talent in Sligo, and this year yet again we have an unbelievable cast, and West Side Story is going to be incredible!
