Search continues on Tipperary's Lough Derg

A search of Lough Derg has resumed, after an upturned speedboat was discovered on the Tipperary side yesterday evening, but no one was found nearby.

The 20ft speedboat was found to have extensive damage to the outdrive and propellers, consistent with damage whilst underway.

At about 9.15pm last night, an RNLI lifeboat from Dromineer went to the boat in Youghal Bay, close to Garrykennedy, while volunteers searched the shoreline.

Later, the Coast Guard helicopter joined in the search, but nobody was found.

There were no reports of anyone overdue, and the boat's owner has not been found.

The speedboat has been taken to Garrykennedy for investigation.
