A man in his 30s who was stabbed in Dublin overnight has died.

He was attacked in the Castlecurragh Housing Estate in Mulhuddart at around midnight, but lost his fight for life later in James Connolly hospital in Blanchardstown.

The scene of the incident has been preserved for a technical examination which is due to take place later today.

A Garda investigation into the attack is underway.

Meanwhile a 47-year-old man remains in garda custody this morning, after the body of a woman the same age was found in Co Kildare last weekend.
