Ireland recycle 652,000 tonnes of packaging: Repak

When it comes to recycling habits, Ireland is ranked seventh out of 27 EU countries.

Repak says 652,000 tonnes of used packaging was recycled here last year - an increase of 4.1% on the previous year.

IDA in talks with gaming company as fears grow for 96 jobs

The IDA says it is in discussions with PopCap Games about alternative prospects for its staff.

It follows the news that the company has begun an 'evaluation review' of its Dublin office, sparking fears for 96 jobs there.

PopCap is blaming changes in the gaming industry, and says the move is part of a global re-alignment of its business.

Three in court over Antrim sex attacks


Three men, believed to be associated with the Jordanian Paralympic team, are due in court in the North later.

The men, aged in their 20s and 30s, were last night charged in connection with a number of alleged sex attacks in Antrim, near Belfast.

At least one woman and child are reported to have been assaulted.

Report shows 24% of bank loan applications turned down


A major report is putting the spotlight on the level of lending at Irish banks.

According to the research from the Central Bank, more than one in four businesses looking for a loan or an overdraft have been turned down in the six months to the end of March.

Ireland's overall rejection rate is put at 24%, which is double the EU average and means only Greek banks turn down more loan applications from businesses.
