World :: Shooting One Hour Ago At Empire State Building

Two people have been killed and at least eight others wounded in a shooting outside of the Empire State Building in New York City, according to reports.

A police source said that one of the dead was the shooter, adding that there was no apparent link to terrorism.

A fire department spokesman said it received a call about the shooting just after at 9 am (2pm Irish Time) and that emergency units were on the scene within minutes.

There are differing reports on the number of people killed in the attack.

Local NY1 television reported that three or four people had been wounded and a gunman had been killed.
