Brendan Gleeson will star alongside his son when he teams up with director John Michael McDonagh to shoot new movie 'Calvary' in Easkey, Co Sligo next month.
'Shadow Dancer' star Domhnall Gleeson (29) has landed a part opposite his dad's lead role in the €5m production which will be filmed over five weeks in Sligo and the east coast from September 24.
Comedians Pat Shortt and Dave McSavage also make up the large Irish cast, which includes 'Bridesmaids' star and Boyle native Chris O'Dowd and 'Love/Hate' actor Aidan Gillen.
But all eyes will be on the dark comedy's major star, Brendan Gleeson, who will be reunited with McDonagh for his first movie since last year's hugely successful 'The Guard'.
The veteran actor will portray Fr James Lavelle, who is tormented by various members of his Sligo parish.
Producer Chris Clark, of Reprisal Films, said that both he and McDonagh, who penned the script, are "really excited to be back" shooting in Ireland.
He said: "'The Guard' was a great experience and it's fantastic to be back for 'Calvary'. John Michael McDonagh has written another brilliant screenplay and we've got a great cast attached."
