Sligo tourism brand to appear on all Council paper

A NEW Sligo tourism brand mark will appear in future on all correspondence issued by Sligo Borough Council and on its website.

The change will be integrated immediately as technology permits the logo to be incorporated on existing stocks of notepaper.

Meetings Organiser Mary Blowick offered the information to members at their October meeting on Monday night.

Adopt The Brand

The proposal to, in his own words, ''adopt the brand'' came from Cllr Jude Devins. The cost would be ''incredibly minimal,'' he later added.

The brand 'Sligo sets your spirit free' was now two years establish and he had put a similar proposal before the members of Sligo County Council.

The brand would be included in addition to the Council's crest and not to replace it, said Cllr Devins.

Supporting, Cllr Jim McGarry said venture tourism is a growing brand.

Cllr Matt Lyons also supported.

Meanhile at the same meeting it was decided that signs warning motorists that children are at play will be erected at both entrances of the ring/crescent in Forthill.

Cllr Arthur Gibbons said that the 'ring' at St Edwards Terrace was being used as a run-through by local motorists.

Cllr Matt Lyons seconded: ''It's highly dangerous and a couple of signs would help.''
