Rural bus stops operating in some parts of the country were shut down yesterday, Sunday.
Politicians who sit on the Oireachtas Transport Committee have expressed their dissatisfaction, and have promised to grill bus bosses on the issue, when they appear before the committee on October 17.
They want the company to suspend the removal of the bus stops in question.
From October 7, Bus …ireann is making changes to the following Expressway commercial services:Route 23 Sligo-Dublin: After consultation - just one service will now operate daily from Rooskey and Dromod.
Route 30 Sligo-Dublin: Locations no longer served Swanlibar, Ballyconnell and Bawnboy.
Route 22 Ballina-Dublin Airport: Locations no longer served: Moyvalley, Clonard, Kinnegad, Ballinafid, Elphin and Carracastle.
Customers travelling from Moyvalley, Clonard and Kinnegad to and from Dublin can still use the Route 20 Expressway service. Customers travelling to and from Ballinafid can use the Bus …ireann route 115 service to and from Longford, Mullingar, Kinnegad and Dublin.
Customers travelling to and from Swanlinbar to Enniskillen can use Bus …ireann's Route 464 service on a Thursday at 11.05am with a return service from Enniskillen to Swanlinbar at 2.50pm.
Customers travelling to and from Ballyconnell to Cavan can use Bus …ireannís Route 465 service on a Tuesday at 10.05am with a return service from Cavan to Ballyconnell at 2.40pm.
