Sligo Leitrim & District Round Up

Calry Bohs Travelled to the Bowl in Boyle to take on Super League leaders Boyle Celtic on Saturday evening and it turned out to be a very entertaining tie. The spoils were equal at the break 1-1, Boyle Celtic took the lead early in the second half but it was a cracker of a strike from Owen Nicholson that guaranteed the visitors a share of the points. Lorcan Conboy & Desi Carlos on target for Celtic, Conor Griffin & Owen Nicholson netting for the Bohs.

St. Seanie Maguire’s St. Johns A treated Sean Irwin’s Ballymote Celtic to a 5-2 drubbing at the Astroturf Pitch in The Sligo I.T.

And there were no scarcity of goal scorers in the St Johns line up, David Rooney, Conor Brennan, Keith Lynch, Brain Keaney and Gavin Butler all getting their names on the score sheet. Joe Rogers and that man “Lucas” getting one each for Ballymote celtic. Aughanagh Celtic travelled to sun blessed Strandhill and went away with a 2-0 win. The goals coming from Keith Carty and Niall Cregg piling more pressure on the Seasider’s who have only managed one League Win this season. City United made the short trip to Ballisodare and showed they are still a dominant force in the Super League, hammering Ballisodare Utd. 6-1. John Loftus’s men were in top form and lead 3-0 at half time. Paul Flanagan bagged a brace while Keith Nibbs, Kevin Murrin and one each from the Kelly brothers Gareth and Christopher recorded another good win for the SligoTown side.Darragh Healy scoring the consolation goal for Ballisodare Utd. late into the game. Tom Logan’s Yeats Utd. welcomed Cartron Utd. to North Sligo and came out the worst of a game that only produced a single goal, that coming from Kevin Buckley and the win sees the top three sides in the Best Western Sligo Southern Hotel Super League, Boyle Celtic, Cartron Utd. and Aughanagh Celtic all on 17 points.

The Sligo Pallets Premier League

Manor Rangers & Ballygawley Celtic battled out a stunning game of football on the Astroturf Facility at the Sligo I.T. on Friday evening which saw Thomas Conlon’s Ballygawley men go home with all three points after an eight goal thriller winning 5-3.
Joe Kilcullen bagged a brace while David O Reilly, Keith Hennessy & J.P. Henry scored one each for Celtic. Kyle Kerrigan netted twice and the third a fine strike from “Milo” for The Manor Men. Strand Celtic Reserves entertained Chaffpool Utd. on the Astroturf Facility at Cleveragh on Saturday Evening and this mid table clash ended up all square 2-2. Carl Mc Enroe & Declan Brennan on target for The Beachcombers while Colm Henry & Richard Durkin ensured the South Sligo Side came away with a very well earned draw. Boyle Celtic Reserves battled out a 2-2 draw with M.C.R. F.C. at the Bowl in Boyle. Shane Battles and Dermot Beggan on target for Celtic, and Johnny Gilligan replied twice for John Lynch’s M.C.R. The top of the table clash between Carrick Town and Real Tubber saw the Leitrim Side beaten 3-1 which means Real Tubber go three points clear following two brilliant goals from Stephen Mathews, and one from Hughie Marren. Leading Goal scorer Stephen Sirle netted the consolation for Carrick Town. It was smiles all around Dessie O Connors house on Sunday as he saw his troops who are languishing at the bottom of the table slog out a 3-1 win over Seamie O Boyle’s Glenview Stars to record their first win of the season. On target for the North Sligo side were Gavin Gilsennan and Brian O Connor and an O.G. by Ronan O Grady. Keith Carty scored the consolation goal for Glenview Stars. Following a Saturday evening inspection Gurteen Celtics pitch was deemed unplayable so the tie reverted to Dromore Villa’s home pitch at Dromore West. Tony Taylor, Niall Mc Gill and Ross O’ Donovan scoring one a piece without reply.


The Cleary Landscapes and Pitch Maintenance Division One

Coolaney Utd recorded a 5-0 win over Division one strugglers Aclare Celtic who have only managed to clock up one point to date this season. An Alan Farry Hat trick, a penalty form James Ellis and a super strike from Sean Walsh without reply secured all three points for Coolaney Utd. Easkey Harps handed out a 4-2 thrashing to second placed Arrow harps with one goal each from Emmet Lindsay and Stephen Mc Guinness and a double from Kevin Duffy. Dylan Edwards and Johnny Baker on target for the visitors.
