Fighters from Collooney Kickboxing Club were on the road again last weekend to Offaly to compete in the Combat Open.  10 members of the club travelled and for each of them it was a very successful and worthwhile trip.

These fighters took home to Sligo a whopping 15 medals – 6 Gold, 6 Silver and 3 Bronze.  A huge success for Chief Instructor Des Leonard who had the following comment “We have very dedicated fighters who have their eye on the win.  They are all currently training numerous nights per week over their school summer holidays in preparation for the World Kickboxing Championships in September.  They performed exceptional well at the weekend and did their club proud”.

The World Kickboxing Championships is taking place in City West, Dublin this September.  All these fighters are using their summer holidays to get in the best possible shape for this event.  Some of Irelands’ best fighters will descend upon the Knocknarea area in Sligos IT this weekend (July 30th & 31st) to train together in preparation for the World Championships.
