Cathoirleach of South and West Sligo Municipal District, Cllr Dara Mulvey is the first Fine Gael elected representative in County Sligo to publicly declare support for a new leader position of the Fine Gael Party.
Cllr Mulvey has stated that the party is very lucky to have two excellent candidates seeking the party Leader role, Ministers Leo Varadkar and Simon Coveney .
He told Sligo Today
. "I am delighted to give my support to Leo Varadkar. I believe he has a consistent track record of hard work and dedication.
"He has proven he can manage,lead,communicate and make tough decisions that will help to continue rebuilding our country.
"Leo is a man of great ability and integrity who is guided by strong principles that hard work should be rewarded and I believe that he is the right person for the Leaders position," concluded Cllr Mulvey.
In the forthcoming election contest all Fine Gael county councillors nationwide make up 10 per cent of the overall vote.
