Sligo Road and Traffic Report - 19 June

MAJOR WORKS:

Sligo City Watermain Rehabilitation and Pearse Road Sewer Network Contract

From Tuesday 6th of June and for a period of 3 weeks, Teeling Street will be closed to all vehicular traffic

Southbound diversions will be in place as follows along JFK Parade / Lower Abbey Street / Convent Hill or Thomas Street / Abbey Street / Convent Hill

There are 5 different Northbound diversions available at the following locations:

1.    HGVís should use divert off Pearse Road at Mail Coach Road
2.    Traffic can turn left at Saint Brigids to Mail Coach Road
3.    Traffic can turn left at Burton Street to High Street
4.    Traffic can turn left at Old Market St to High Street
5.    Traffic can turn right at Chapel St and left at roundabout to Abbey Street

This will undoubtedly give rise to delays, particularly during morning and evening peak traffic times.  

During this time, motorists are advised to consider alternative routes where possible.  Please note that parking restrictions will apply along the diversion route also.  Updates will be provided as works progress.

A full traffic management plan will be in operation for the duration of all the works. Motorists are advised to drive with caution.

Works will commence on Monday the 19th June on Castle St.  The Street will be closed to traffic from 7pm to 7am Monday to Friday for 2 weeks.  Diversions will be in place and sign posted.

Works will continue on John St to install Customer Connections and boundary boxes and footpath reconstruction.  Traffic Management will be in place and provision will be made for Pedestrians.  Minor delays can be expected.

There will be road resurfacing and road repair works taking place in the Doorly Park / Martin Savage Terrace area.  This will result in various roads being inaccessible while work is ongoing.  Traffic management and local diversions will be in place.
 
Works will take place on the N4 Dual Carriageway. The works will involve the repair of bridge expansion joints. Repair Works will take place at the Ballydrehid interchange on the North Bound Carriageway and on the North Bound Carriageway. Full traffic management will be in operation for the duration of the works. Motorists are advised to drive with caution.

BALLYMOTE AREA:


N4 Collooney to Castlebaldwin Road Project

Topographical Survey works are taking place along the N4 Sligo/Dublin national primary road from the N4/N17 Toberbride roundabout to approximately 1.0km south of Castlebaldwin Village.
 
The works are expected to be ongoing until the end of June during which time various traffic management systems will be in operation along the N4 and the adjacent local road network. Motorists are urged to proceed with caution through the works. Minor delays expected. 

ENNISCRONE AREA:


Verge improvements on R297 at Enniscrone Graveyard.  Temporary traffic lights will be in operation.  Minor delays can be expected.

TUBBERCURRY AREA:

Verge trimming works will commence on the N4 County Boundary to Collooney from Monday 19th June 2017.  Traffic control will be in operation with significant delay expected. Works will continue for 1 week.  

MINOR WORKS:

SLIGO CITY AREA:

Pavement survey works will continue in Sligo town at off peak times from 07.00pm till 04.00am. The works will take place at the junctions of Duck Street with the N4, the junction of Molloway Hill and from Summer hill roundabout north to Hughes Bridge. Traffic management will be in operation with medium delays expected.

Hoarding has been erected at the corner of Lord Edward Street and Union Street. Provision has been made for pedestrian access and works are expected to last several weeks.  Minimal traffic disruption expected.

Ongoing Road Openings to take place at various locations over the coming weeks due to broadband upgrade.  Minimal traffic disruption expected.

ENNISCRONE AREA:

Minor Works

Road restoration will be carried out at Newtown on the L6611-15. A temporary road closure will be in place. Local access will be provided. Diversions via R297 /L6609-0. A 50km/hr speed limit will be in operation within the site.

Road restoration will be carried out at Killanley on the L6608-0. A temporary road closure will be in place. Local access will be provided. Diversions via R297 /L606-0. A 50km/hr speed limit will be in operation within the site.

Road restoration will be carried out at Ballymooneen on the L6605-0. A temporary road closure will be in place. Local access will be provided. Diversions via L6606-20. A 50km/hr speed limit will be in operation within the site.

Road restoration will be carried out at Cottlestown/Corballa South on the L66052-0. A temporary road closure will be in place. Local access will be provided. Diversions via L6605-0 OR L6602-16. A 50km/hr speed limit will be in operation within the site.

Road restoration will be carried out at Newtown on the L6611-15. A temporary road closure will be in place. Local access will be provided. Diversions via R297 /L6609-0. A 50km/hr speed limit will be in operation within the site.

Road restoration will be carried out at Cabraghkeel on the L6410-0. A temporary road closure will be in place. Local access will be provided. A 50km/hr speed limit will be in operation within the site.

Road restoration will be carried out at Sratorrew/Owenbeg  on the L6412-40. A temporary road closure will be in place. Local access will be provided. Diversions via L2402-36/L64127-0. A 50km/hr speed limit will be in operation within the site.

Road restoration will be carried out at the Ladies Brea on the L2205-0. A temporary road closure will be in place. Local access will be provided. Diversions via Lough Easkey/Hungary Rock road. A 50km/hr speed limit will be in operation within the site.

Road restoration will be carried out at Gerrib/Carrownaree on the L62061-0. A temporary road closure will be in place. Local access will be provided. A 50km/hr speed limit will be in operation within the site.

Surface Dressing will be carried out at Doonflin Upper  on the L23038-0 . A temporary road closure will be in place. Local access will be provided. A 50km/hr speed limit will be in operation within the site.

Surface Dressing will be carried out at Ballymeeney on the L27012-0 . A temporary road closure will be in place. Local access will be provided. A 50km/hr speed limit will be in operation within the site.

Pothole repair works will continue in the Enniscrone area. Traffic control will be in operation but no delays are expected.

BALLYMOTE AREA:

Pothole repair works will continue in the Ballymote area. Traffic control will be in operation but no delays are expected.

TUBBERCURRY AREA:


Pothole repair works will continue in the Tubbercurry area. Traffic control will be in operation but no delays are expected.
