Sligo to escape worst of weather re-run

SLIGO IS predicted to escape the worst of poor weather likely to return across Ireland in the next 24 hours.

Status Yellow alert for both wind and rain will kick in all day Wednesday throughout Munster and Leinster.

The weather picture for St Patricks Day and the extended holiday weekend remains unclear.

Most Anxiety

Causing most anxiety for the weekend is a weather system over Scandinavia.

It has the potential to provide a ‘return ticket’ for the ‘Beast from the Beast’ which grounded much of the country a fortnight ago.

Tomorrow’s weather Is expected to bring gale force winds along with persistent and heavy rain in the south.

Says Met: “The rain will ease on Thursday with some bright or sunny spells developing.

Slightly Cooler

“But scattered showers will be heavy at times with the risk of hail or thunder,” says the forecast. 

Friday will be another bright day with sunny spells and scattered showers mainly affecting the east and south,.

Met forecasts that Friday will be “slightly cooler, with temperatures of around 8c.”

Windy Day

According to the forecaster the weather for the Bank Holiday weekend looks uncertain at the moment. 

Current indications suggest that St Patrick's Day will be a windy day.

Met Éireann is forecasting easterly winds increasing fresh or strong and turning colder with scattered showers.
