Sex photos taken inside Cork church under Gardaí investigation

A priest is allegedly a suspect in an investigation into claims of a shocking sex act on an Irish church altar.

Gardai have launched an investigation into the alleged incident which reportedly happened at rural Catholic church.

It is understood to involve a number of images appearing to show two men engaging in sexual activity on the shrine of a small church in Co Cork.

The pictures were uploaded on social media and show the images that were taken in St Bartholomew’s Church in Kildorrery, close to the Cork-Limerick border.

Parish Priest Fr Eamon Kelleher said that the people of Kildorrery are “shocked and saddened” at the possibility that the photographs could have been taken inside their church.

Despite what some parishioners have described as a 'desecration', religious services are continuing at the church.

The Diocese have launched an investigation into the images. A spokesperson said,  “We received a report of an alleged incident at the church which if true was possibly criminal in nature.

The Garda press office confirmed that a report was made on May 2 to Cobh Garda Station in relation to the incident and that “investigations are ongoing”.
