can now proceed at a Sligo fruit ‘n’ veg business after a split decision by the statutory planning appeals agency.
An Taisce had recently asked Bord Pleanala to overturn the original permission granted by Sligo County Council for the work.
There are “views out to sea” by the site of the new shed, the Pleanala Inspector confirmed in her report to Board members.
sheds, said the report, are already in place at the site for the
storage of fruit and vegetables in a business run by applicant Joe Kelly
The new shed would be used for the storage of animals, equipment and machinery.
retention of two other sheds had been shot down by Pleanala because
they were deemed “obtrusive in this visually scenic area.”
An Taisce argued that the latest shed was sited within a scenic route protected by the County Development Plan 2017-2023.
This was reported in the 22 page report prepared by inspector Dolores McCague. See below.
However, her report is not binding and Board members at Pleanala are legally free to ignore the recommendation out before it.
