Sligo Jazz Project (SJP) strive to bring the best musicians in the world each year to teach and perform in Sligo. This year is, understandably, very challenging, despite SJP getting Arts Council funding to the tune of €8000 they're going to need more.
They estimate the 2010 Summer School and Festival, set for July 20-25, will cost a minimum of €35,000 to run. To date, they have raised about €13,000 so there's quite a way to go - and the more they raise, the more potential they have to keep participant fees to a minimum and make the internationally popular event non-elitist and available to people of any age and background who want to further their musical knowledge and spend a week in the company of some world jazz greats.
To help with the fundraising the SJP are hosting a Table Quiz in the Harp Tavern this Thursday, 11th February, at 9pm. Tables cost a standard €20 and a raffle with loads of great spot prizes to boot.
They guarantee no Jazz questions with Sean from the Harp is the quizmaster, its a fun way to spend an evening.
Pop along on the night before 9pm and enjoy yourselves. All welcome
