The remarkable story of
Strandhill
based artist Helen Ryan Kraft will appear on Nationwide on Monday,
March 15th at 7pm, on
RTE 1.
Facing enormous personal challenges as a young woman living in Germany,
Helen tells of how she overcame two tragic events which took place in
quick succession when she was in her early 30’s.
Following on from what she thought was going to be a routine operation,
she became paralysed and became confined to a wheelchair. Soon
afterwards, her husband’s premature and unexpected death left her alone,
and with a young family to rear.
But Helen managed to keep her head above water during those challenging
years. On Nationwide, she describes how her faith maintained her,
especially her belief that guardian angels were watching over her.
Helen’s relationship with her guardian angels has become the focus of
her latest exhibition, which took place at the turn of the year at
‘Angel World’, located on Hyde Bridge in
Sligo. These paintings – a swirl of colour
and brimming with positive energy – according to one observer, depict
Helen’s interpretation of her personal relationship with her angels.
Filmed by local broadcast company
Omedia,
Nationwide screens this uplifting story as part of it’s Mind, Body
& Spirit programme at 7pm on March 15th.
