O'Leary asks Taoiseach to withdraw his Dail comments

Ryanair has confirmed that company boss Michael O'Leary has written to the Government, requesting that comments made by the Taoiseach, during the recent Hangar 6 controversy be struck off the Dáil record.

In the letter to the Ceann Comhairle Séamus Kirk, dated March 3, he says a number of claims made by the Taoiseach had damaged the airline's reputation.

Hangar 6 was the centre of a controversy between the Government and Ryanair in recent weeks.

Ryanair had offered to create 500 maintenance jobs at Dublin Airport on condition that the State arrange the hangar's sale or lease to Ryanair.

The Government has insisted that Aer Lingus has leased the hanger and cannot be asked to leave without giving two year's notice.
